The Cholistan Education Sector Plan addresses one of Pakistan’s most challenging service-delivery contexts: the provision of quality education across a vast desert landscape that makes basic service access acutely difficult. The Cholistan region covers approximately 10,000 square miles of difficult terrain, and deprivations among its population are worse than the rest of the province on most human development indicators. This plan combines a diagnostic assessment of the current state of educational provision — enrolment, infrastructure, teacher deployment, learning outcomes — with a forward-looking investment and reform strategy tailored to Cholistan’s geographic and socioeconomic realities, as part of the Cholistan Regional Development Plan.
