Access to inclusive and sustainable infrastructure is of paramount importance for equitable development across spatial units. This paper examines the level of infrastructure development, analyses spatial disparities in infrastructure provision, and conducts temporal comparison of infrastructure development across Punjab’s districts. Constructing a multi-dimensional Infrastructure Development Index (IDI) combining social infrastructure and public utility sub-indices, the study produces spatial maps of infrastructure performance and benchmarking analyses across two census periods. Findings reveal significant and persistent spatial inequalities in infrastructure, with implications for the design of infrastructure investment programmes and public expenditure allocation.
